This is could be an affordable solution đ In other words, the world's first 40% keyboard based on the Raspberry Pi Pico.

Some advice for you:

- This project needs a 3D Printer for the chassis, if you have no 3D Printer, you can use an Online Service, but remember that all STL files are at your disposal under Patreon, so, take into account this additional expense.

- The actual code over GitHub is a fork of a previous version of the KMK project, so it could not work without properly updating to the brand new version. Take into account only my fork on my GitHub if you want to add other features.

- I'll not publish any detail about the schematic, there are lots of documentations online, see refer to the pictures if you want to follow my steps, or moreover, follows the code if you want to accomplish the same schematic.

- Last suggestion. If you want a Bluetooth Keyboard (that's not for me for several reasons), you only need an ESP32. Please, not be seen or heard to make a bunch of low-level hardware with Raspberry Pi Pico and Esp32 together and only just to add the radio function to your keyboard! An Esp32 with micro-python onboard is the cheap way for a keyboard with radio features, with low effort and expenses. In this context, I rather concur with the opinion of Sachin Soni (alias techiesms) in his video "Watch it before buying Raspberry Pi Pico", so please "stay in the ranks" and "keep calm with raspberry pi hip".

The new hip isn't the brand new square, paraphrasing "hip to be square". So, right now, that I have made a lot of friends among Upton's enthusiasts we can start.

There is just one thing for which I think the new Raspberry Pi Pico could be a cheap solution compared to all others hardware on the market, that is the USB HID interface (leave a comment if you want to change my mind...). The cost for a development board like this is affordable. It is possible to simulate several human interfaces like a mouse, joypad, keyboard and so on, but what most interest us right now is the keyboard simulation.

There are several methods to achieve our goal, but a good (not the best) solution right now is to use the KMK firmware library for micro-python. It's a porting of the most famous QMK firmware for micro-python, do not include all features of the old one, but it's enough for our purpose. Sometimes you could get some issues from KMK firmware, it's quite normal because it's under development and I also had to solve several problems, but I think the state-of-the-art is acceptable, and... anyway... I think you can approve some features I added on.

A small disclaimer: All features could not work on the new version of KMK firmware without modifications (as anticipated in the advice). For example, I connected the behaviour of RGB LED Matrix to the internal State Machine and I have already seen that's changed in the last version, so pay attention!

The Raspberry Pi Pico pinout allows us to make a standard keyboard, but in my opinion, a 40% Keyboard is a right tradeoff between usability and features. Moreover, the components are not too much to allow us to keep costs low.

The pinout I have chosen for the columns is:

GPIO1, GPIO2, GPIO3, GPIO4, GPIO5, GPIO6, GPIO7, GPIO8, GPIO9, GPIO10, GPIO11, GPIO12

This one for the rows:

GPIO14, GPIO15, GPIO16, GPIO17

The pin connection follows the picture below.

Two main components have to be chosen to make our keyboard, there are lots of choices so you can change these components, but I selected two cheap solutions, I refer of course to the keycaps and diodes. If you want a different sound from keycaps or an improvement for the speed typing (gaming purpose like) you can spend more money. My choice has fallen upon the Gateron Brown (70 pcs cost 17.21 euros on Bangood) about keycaps and the 1N4148 200mA (500 pcs for 13 euros on Amazon Italy) about diodes. You can achieve an improvement with better keycaps and better diodes (for example the 1N4001) as described in this article of "40% Keyboards". In my opinion, my solution is a pretty general purpose.

The transfer frequency with these diodes (tested on Pico without KMM firmware and with an oscilloscope) is acceptable until 4ms, this transfer is enough for programming and gaming, in my opinion.

The sample code to test this characteristic is the one below:

import time
import board
import digitalio

pin_out = digitalio.DigitalInOut(board.GP1)
pin_out.direction = digitalio.Direction.OUTPUT
pin_in = digitalio.DigitalInOut(board.GP10)
pin_in.direction = digitalio.Direction.INPUT

while True:
if pin_in.value:
pin_out.value = False
time.sleep(0.002)
else:
pin_out.value = True
time.sleep(0.002)

I started from this code to confirm the wanted performance from my keyboard, at least theoretical performance. These performances must be confirmed on the KMK firmware side, which is not trivial, because with the firmware we have to work with a state machine, without mention the matrix led via WS2812B for the colour visual effect.

About the matrix led. There is also this time several solutions, usually are used addressed LEDs, like WS2812B. In my opinion, better than a standard RGB led strip are the WS2812B on PIXEL PCBs (100 pcs WS2812B addressed boards cost 16 euros on Amazon Italy), just because all PCB boards can be connected with low elastic strength by some simple wires. Have to be made 4 rows for every keyboard row, connected following a zigzag pattern row by row to cover all the keyboard.

The Adafruit library to control by software these addressed pixels is integrated into the adafruit circuitpython .uf2 file, you don't need more, it's supported natively by KMK firmware and the advantage of this design is to use just only one gpio, in my design the GPIO28. If you want to improve the pixel LEDs refresh rate, you can change the design and made a direct matrix by connecting any single led row to a separate gpio. Of course, in this case, the software animations have to be modded for this kind of configuration.

About the chassis. Based on VOID40, I just made 4 different frames inspired by this project.

The TOP GRID stl was separated into two pieces, a simple frame printed in gold PLA and the internal grid to connect the switches in transparent PETG, in this way the RGB light made a glowing light around every keycap and the PETG material of the grid makes it more solid for typing. Frame in gold PLA and grid in transparent PETG can be glued together in one piece with simple cyanoacrylate glue. The BOTTOM side was printed in marble PLA, nice to see and solid, just added some new pin design to make it easy for the object printing the instead of the old pins. The last piece is a LED GRID, to connect all the WS2812B in the right decentred way. This solution could seem strange, but in reality, it was made to align the RGB pixel with the position on keycaps and switches, in this way, you can take advantage of the three led holes on the switches to enlighten the backside of characters opened on the keycaps with the pixels. You can made some switches mod to emphasize this effect if you want. All the printed parts were made with a 0.8 nozzle on a standard Ender 3, in a day you can print all the parts and they fit on the bed plate.

All the STL will be on my Patreon.

About the software. As said, KMK firmware is the base, I made a fork far ago, so the two versions (on the fork and the new one of KMK firmware) are pretty different, but in poor words could be aligned in future.

from keymap_italian import *

I'm Italian, so I made a keymap_italian configuration and import it into the main file, but you can make your language configuration and add a new one. If you are English this change is pretty simple, but the keycaps functions probably will change, so pay attention. To make other language configurations, you can make a porting starting from these .h files of QMK.

After the KMKKeyboard class configuration, you can find the RGB configuration of the class. First, every time you'll change a layer, the handler "Level_Animation" will change the RGB pixel state animation automatically; at this moment all animations are static because my intention was to visualize the layer change and the configuration of keycaps too just in one time. It's useful if you change the layer and you looking for visual feedback from the keyboard.

Then, the colour of the keycaps are associated with the typing keys, in this way, you know what you can type or not, just looking at the colour. Sure, it would be nice to have a mention of the keys, but maybe this could become a future update.

The Led_Array function simple translate the keys in its typing type defining two lists (leds_on, leds_off) and the class StateControll it was used just to define a static variable about the pre-state of the state machine. The FIMI X8 SE (by Xiaomi) is a gorgeous drone that will be a must for every video maker in the next months, but... how much fragile is the gimbal? Where I can buy a protector for my drone?

No problem, we think about it...

The big problem with this wonderful drone is the absence of a commercial gimbal protector.

Everybody (until now) failed to create a full working gimbal protector for the FIMI X8 SE and it's quite understandable. It's pretty complicated to measure the dimensions of all the pieces that compose the gimbal, that's because every piece is delicate and the spaces are reduced.

We made 32 prototypes before to be able to achieve the target with successful, a full working case. This protector was made to be mounted in place by pushing the two buttons on the left/right side at the same time.

The connection with the drone is performed through a couple of clips properly designed to allow a fast and simple connection with the two plastic pins on the gimbal base.

On the back side, the protector locks in place the rotation along with the Z axis of the gimbal, as well as the X and Y rotation axis are locked by the walls of the case.

In this simple way, every part of the gimbal can be protected for transportation and the dimensions are quite close to the lens to get it free moving.

The wall thickness was properly calculated to allow a simple and effective mount of protector in place without a problem and with the right flexibility coefficient both for PLA and PETG, enough to print with this material without destroying the model for a long time.

The most complicated part to reach it was to build a design with all these characteristics and without undercuts, but after some mathematical calculations we reach a good tread-off, so the model can be printed without support as you want.

The

driver recognition or the flash writing of course. Donât worry in
case of inadvertent brick, you can repeat the process!

If
you have some problem to power-up your drone after the flashing, try
to unplug and to plug back the battery.

Take
in account that, the sensitivity with 5GHz Wi-Fi is greater than with
2.4Ghz Wi-Fi (in my opinion), so leave the sensitivity low in case
you want to use this bandwidth to fly with your drone.

At this
time, we havenât found other issues, in case of you'd find other
issue, please leave me a comment below.

Iâd
like to solve the problem with statics on video streaming, but I
think at this moment the work is so long, so we need time to find a
good solution.

Today we present a new project for MJX Bugs 2, Warrior Landing Foots, an accessory to achieve the best landing in every situation.

These foots have been made with the additive manufacturing technique, we designed and developed a system to improve the landing of MJX Bugs 2, a quadcopter that's all the rage now.
The height achieved with foots mounted on board is enough for a safe quadcopter landing and it allows you to mount other devices to the drone (a second camera for example), we'll have that ready for you.

The material used for our project was PETG (Polyethylene terephthalate), a plastic resin of the polyester family that allows the printer to be light and strong enough to be resistant in all conditions.

In following review, we show several landing performed with our foots. As you can see, every landing is soft and the quadcopter reactions isn't so critical.

Follows a comparison from RunCam 2 to Bugs 2 recording with the Warrior Landing Foots on board.

You can made a print of our Warrior Landing Foots in this store/s, with the material you wish:

To all C/D users. Summer Holidays have begun for us, so each project will be postponed to September.

We are so sorry, we have spent all time in work schedule and organizing for Summer Holidays.

In particular, about the Scarabaeus project; the zoom articles about the mechanics, the hardware and the software of the GPone, they are postponed until September.

Anyway, we're going to use some action cameras, so some videos might come off of the hat.

Stay tuned and Happy Summer!

Since the presentation at the MMF2017 in Turin, we are going to prepare a series of articles with the aim to describe and to announce the future features and developments of this robotic platform.

First of all, we apologize for delay days about article publishing, this is justified by the short time we have every weekend. Anyway, to improve the quality, the success and our effort in this project, we are going to ask your support even through a Patreon that will start sooner.

The project consists of three parts; the software, the hardware and the mechanical parts. In this post, we are going to introduce every part and to describe you our intentions for each one.
We're going to explore one by one in the next articles.
About the mechanical parts.
All parts have been printed with the Alunar R100 presented on this blog some days ago.

Take a look to our Patreon, because if you are going to participate, you can make big deals if you want to purchase the same printer we usually use for 3D printing and the same one we used for this project.
At the same time, you will help us by funding and further improving this project, all info in patreon page (coming soon).
All mechanical parts are released in Creative Commons license, that enables the free distribution of an otherwise copyrighted work. Take a look at our thingiverse's account over the course of days to be updated about all the parts. The pictures below show of the Jansen's linkage legs with some detail and the claw parts disassembled.
In our case, we have a software that communicates with our own home network, so this concept is the most important thing.

About the software.
You can find on board two kinds of software, one for the Server ESP8266 based and one for the Control Unit, TI LM4F120 LaunchPad based. We must make it quite clear that it's compatible even with Tiva C Series TM4C123G, even if we cannot testing it.
These two parts communicate via UART and apply the command received to the actuators, in this case, two modified 28BYJ-48 stepper motors for the Jansen's linkage legs and one unmodded 28BYJ-48 for the claw in front of the robot.
The communications are shared under HTTP and through our Telegram bot. You receive the IP of the robot through telegram and then you can communicate with it via HTTP. These two methods aren't so practical, so we have in development other ways to assure to you an alternative to drive and to communicate with the Scarabaeus.
In particular, it would be really useful for an application via mobile or desktop app, to drive the robot more easily (of course, this is another point in development).

As wrote through LinkedIn and showed on Twitter (if you followed us, you already know that), the GPone project (Code Name: Scarabaeus) has been presented to general public of Mini Maker Faire in Turin.

The people's participation to the event in Turin was very interesting, so we started to improve che mechanics and the software before all other features for this project.

Right now, we are in alpha-test with the software, so some parts of controll (for example the claw designed for the robot) haven't a stable version, but our work will be stable as soon as possible. That's because all days long we carry on with our main work, so no much time is at our disposal to improve the project.

Even for that, we'd like to start our personal Patreon to fund the project and to spend the right time for better resolve all problems found and to wait for your improvement suggestions. The Patreon will start in a few weeks.

I would like to make an observation regarding the printed parts. All parts have been printed witha an Infitary Alunar R100, we just post our personal extruder through thingiverse, but there are lots of upgrade that can improve the printed quality, these addons will be on the market together with the project.

With a simple printer like this, following the project, you will be able to made so good joints that have no need of other things to stay togheter. Even for that, the Scarabaeus project is able to carry away 3-4 times its body weight. We suggest to use this Printer, for which we are going to publish all needs (strategy in Cura, ect.) to print good quality pieces.

A special word of thanks is due to 3D Printing Turin Club in Turin FabLab, for the space to the stand in MMF2017.

The TechnologyHUB in Milan is closed, so we can make a summary of 3 days spent in this fair.
We want to leave some comment about the TechnologyHUB in Milan, to report some interesting information about the exhibitors, the conferences and the events day by day.

We made and published on our channel several videos in Italian, because as you can expected, Milan is in Italy and all speakers has specked in Italian. It would be too long to translate all the conferences and events, so to help you to understand the facts and to add some comment, you can read the description in this article. If you have some more question, please refer to the comments below.

In the First Day, we have appreciated the speech of the lawyer Marco Giacomello and his coworker Maria Livia Rizzo about the 3D Printing and Bioprinting - Rights and Rules.

In syntesis, to this day is possible to made a biological part with 3D printing, throught the insertion of cellulars or stem cells in a suitable substrate to grow human parts, to modify these parts or improve them or to develop more efficient parts, an example can be the military defence. There is so much things to take in consideration, in particular the rights and the rules of your country. In the discussion, about the rights, the Dr. Giacomello gives us an off-topic example about the STL files. Over internet you can find several STL files with different copyrights, infact every STL can have a particular copyright with restrictive usage rules, so even if you print the object in a FabLab, you can get in a copyright strike without know it. It's very important to know that every creation, even if only a STL, can be under copyright. So pay attention to what you are going to print, because you can commit a violation without know it!

In the speech of 3DZ Direct Metal 3D Printing by Cristian Parmeggiani,
we saw how to print complex metal objects for a number of industries,
such as automotive, aeronautics or aerospace.
New promoted printers,
such as 3D Systems and HP, the latest makes his way into 3D printing
with its Multi Jet Fusion DMLS (Direct metal laser sintering) printers.
The new feature of 3D Systems printers is the Patented Powder Layering
System, with which the metal wiper lays the powder bed and the special
roller compacts the metal powder to the desired layer with the thin
layer and the desiderated density on return.
The speech continues
with the various metal powders that can be used with the printer,
including Titanium aluminum - TiAl used in the aerospace.

The tutorial about Rhinoceros for 3D Printing parts Design by Riccardo Gatti explain how to use Rhinoceros 3D in a particular case of study. In this case Gatti shows who the right modelling in 3D printing can be influenced from the application and the mesh can be adapted in view of final target for which the object have to be used.

In the speechs of composite materials Carbon Fiber by Crivelli Visconti and Tools for Carbon Fiber production by Energy Group, we saw an introdution to the carbon fiber genaration as composite material with different matrix substrate materials (that is the material contenitor for the fibers) and small graphite cubic crystals. A composite material that could changes the future for sure, as saw Crivelli Visconti, it will be the composite ceramic material, a fantastic field of application that matches together high working temperatures, chimic resistence infinite and with competitive mechanical caracteristics.
About carbon fiber tools, in the video is explained several concept about 3D printing and the difference between FDM and Polyjet. Some discussion about the use of 3D printing in industrial contest and some example applications concluded the discussion, in particular how to use the 3D printing as basic shape to model the object with the wanted material, for example carbon fiber.

In the speech Robotic: Bigdata and Artificial Intelligence, the speaker shows how to, with a simple algorithm of machine learning, a robobotic arm can elaborate a strategy to identify or to practice complex operations in the real world, even in collaborative mode. The software recognize step by step, before from a particular in several pictures and then from a complex image in a more in-depth pictures, faces or manufacturing production issues, and it makes decisions on what to do to complete a reaction in the manufacturing process.

Today we show you some results with the FabLab CNC Milling.

We are in Turin for a number of years and we are "fabber", that it means a FabLab member.
As fabber we can take part in every FabLab training, when after a working day the time is enough.

Today we gotta a good day and we took part to the "Hello CNC" training, the introduction to CNC machine managing.
We working on 3D printing for so long, so we already know lots of Gcode secrets, but with the CNC milling there are so much differences to take into consideration.

To show you some results, we recorded this short video.
We hope you can appreciate it as well as our future results with the milling.

Stay tuned.

Our first project on thingiverse.com is now available.

If you have purchased an Infitary Printer, like this....

Maybe you could damage your extruder, sooner or later.
We made this project to perform a right extruder model, of makerbot spring-loaded extruder, for our printer starting from a previous project posted on thingiverse.com from Jens Behrens.

Maker Faire Rome 2016, we're still a bit late even in this second part, but with these videos we're going to complete our collection part 2.

Sintratec

The Sintratec made a laser sintering technology printer that makes possible to print complex objects. All plastic objects have a high mechanical load capacity and show a very high long-term stability, as the example printed to the fair made in Nylon. This technology is particularly suitable for functional prototyping and conducting pilot studies. It looks very promising, even if the bed it's only 110x110x110 mmm.

3DPRN

With 3DPRN we tried the "3D Printer LAB X 2", the first printer we ever seen with has two arms (X and Z axes) independent. It's a very big printer useful for professionals, tha can duplicate two copies of the same object, match a different material for each head or print one only big object when the two beds work in synchro.

The two heads are independent and each of them you can mount a tool different. 3DPRN produces this printer with a version of Marlin Kimbra and slicer self-modded, to achieve the simultaneous extrusion of two filaments on the object.

It's pretty interesting to see it at work; even the self-calibration is made with a removable tool, that can be mounted in place before printing and removed when you are going to start the printing.

The printer filament can be 1,75 or 3 mm; it's fully expandable, by a minimum of 200x200x320 mm print area until of 650x670x500 mm dimensions.

STARSLIDER

At the end Starslider, a videomaker accessory to record slider movie or slow-motion by yourself without help.

The materials used ensure precision, silence and fluidity.

Their flywheel allows the user to produce fluid shots and with the power of the motors you can move heavy weights, in slanted and vertical positions too; such as pan, tilt or roll.

There are more than 20 different configurations with the complete bundle.

The user can design his shoots and control them with the STARSLIDER app for iOS and Android, manage up to 4 motors with 3 main functionalities: manual control, preset control, and timelapse.

It seems pretty interesting even if you are a blogger and you want to perform your movies in a professional way.

In particular, the printing begin with a smartphone brightness calibration, then you can print your 3D object from ONO's cloud app or you STL file previously loaded on your phone. All printings work only with the ONO's app, as you can see below.

The issiues. The printing occurs in the ONO's printer, that during the process it is sealed. Each solid or a liquid element can pollute the printing, during cleaning for example, but the solid parts can be removed with a strainer insted of the liquid one.

Infineon brought inside the fair its ready-to-use multicopter solutions. As a leading semiconductor company, they offered a complete system solution that includes XMC-controllers, iMotion motor control, magnetic sensors, and more.

The presented products have been only prototipes, not for commercial use, but we hope to find this solutions even on the marketplace in future. You can find every technical reference here.

Other interesting devices have been the Infineon's shield the 24V Protected Switch Shield with BTT6030-2EKA / BTT6020-1EKA, the RGB LED Lighting Shield with XMC1202 Arduino compatible and the XMC⢠Digital Power Explorer Kit.

The first Arduino compatible board is equipped with three PROtected high-side power MOSFETs out of the PROFET 24V family â Infineonâs protected high-side switches (BTT6xxx) driving resistive, capacitive as well as inductive loads.

The second one is able to drive up to 3 LED channels with constant current. The shield itself is powered by a programmable XMC 32-bit ARMÂŽ MCU with embedded Brightness Color Control Unit, for flicker-free LED dimming and color control.

At last, the new XMC⢠digital power explorer kit. It utilizes Infineonâs industry leading XMC⢠range of ARM ÂŽ Cortex ÂŽ -M microcontrollers. The load banks can be switched between 10%, 55% and 100% of the maximum load, so that the transient response and the quality of the control loop under different load conditions can be tested.

The kit also includes 2 different control card options, XMC1300 control card (ARM Ž Cortex Ž -M0) and XMC4200 control card (ARM Ž Cortex Ž -M4F) with isolated on-board debugger, which allow designers to easy evaluate both XMC⢠microcontroller families and make the right price/performance choice for their application.

We are excited to announce that C/D is now the proud owner of a new Anycubic Kossel Delta 3D printer that we are experimenting with!

We have purchased this printer to improve the design in our electronics projects ideas as well as to express in a more effective pure design projects and to allow you to order your 3D printing from now on.

Just some details about mechanics, it's made from premium parts and materials; improved aluminum in black coloring, linear guides to preventing the falloff of the slider, full bead with steel ball cage design. The working volume dimension is: 150mm x 150mm x 300mm. As you know a Delta has a building area that can be assimilated to a cilinder, so every project has to match with this solid area.

The plate can be splitted in three different round regions, each of these defines a particular area that can be overtake or not.

The yellow zone is the working area, the blue zone could be reached with
some limitation (on Z tower for example), the red zone cannot be reached without overhead.

We are going to add a heated bed, but right now we made all our 3D prints in PLA with success.
In addition, it allows to print ABS, Nylon and much more other materials. To know every specification, refer you to the description below.

Technical specifications:

100 micron resolution layer
Max Print Speed: 150 mm/s
Build Size: Maximum 150mm x 150mm x 300mm
Full Metal E3D V5 long distance J-head extrusion nozzle
Type Material: PLA, ABS
Specifications of 1.75mm or 3.0mm material (default 1.75mm)
Positioning Accuracy: 0.0025mm Z, XY 0.0125mm
Nozzle Diameter: 0.4mm
Recommended extruder Temperature: 190-210° C
The best Ambient Temperature ⼠25° C
Power requirements: 220 V, 50 Hz, 0.5-1.0A
Connection: SD card or USB
The Print Format: STL, G-Code
Compatibility: Windows, Mac

The Anycubic Kossel Delta 3D printer has the smallest footprint and the smallest chassis among desktop 3D printers.

We tested some material of brands such as BQ, NuNus and the default chinese material. In every case is necessary a specific know-how and experimentation once you gets in touch with new material, so some improvements are going to be made to work with every material even without heated bed.

There isn't a particular material that cannot be worked, but you have to know every material specifics before printing and the manufacturing houses often leave these things to the designer.

Anyway. Every improving will be discussed in brand new articles and our designs will be at your disposal for printing very soon. Everything to give you the possibility to order and/or print our projects.
If you have some request, we are going to add a 3D printer section in which will be possible to send your particular requests about 3D printing projects.

You will book your design for printing with our machine and we will give you our support for printing and design solutions about the world of additive printing.
Xiaomi has made their 4th generation earphone model in 11th November 2015, with an all new design, new packaging and the return of deep heavy bass, but...

How much the new model is better than the older one?

We haven't got the 3th generation of Xiaomi in-ear headphones, but the 2th one; so our test will be made in comparison with this model.

First, the packaging.
It had a number of lacking accessories, we thought at beginning. Because, we actually didn't notice the bag of replacement tips at the first and thought the worse. However, just before this review we noticed the small second box at the bottom of the packaging and found a small bag (non-resealable) inside there with tips in three sizes.

Another concern it was the design of in-ear, absolutely strange and cool to see at same time, but we noticed that the feeling, with form factor, is practically immediate after first touch. These headphones can remain in position with no problem, during a running also... a good point.

Then the materials, aluminum and plastic appear no compatible, but the lightness is another important goal reached from this set.

And we absolutely appreciate the cnc milling, clear in the following macro. Marvellous!
The cable is braided Kevlar which continues on through to the Y-splitter, at which point the cables continue in silicon.
The main Xiaomi Hybrid characteristic is its new model of Klippel
Drivers, an 1+1 hybrid drivers (balanced armature driver and dynamic
driver). We appreciate so much the sound quality that comes from these
earphones, but our feeling isn't something that could be demonstrate,
only described.
We don't want to forget your personal
impressions, these aren't replaceable from a mathematical representation,
it's only an empiric experiment.

So, we develop a new test that working pretty good with the earphones to bring back our feeling to another level of awareness, much more scientific.

We record, in three steps, three audio sources about a classic, pop and rock track. Then we cleaned and normalized the results, it was gaved away to our algorithm to generate a PSD (power spectral density) useful to evaluate such as every frequency is distribuited (on avarage) on the entire track recorded (for every gender).

The new design really sees a huge improvement in bass, but... how that behave the hybrid dual drivers on the rest of frequencies?

These are the results of our test.

As you can see, the low and high frequencies are accentuated, but the medium frequencies from 5k Hz and 10k Hz are attenuated.
This show how Xiaomi changes the frequencies mix to achieve a better result from its new device, but... are the differences so significant?

We think from point of view of frequencies, the older model have good power dinstribution, no so different from the new one; but the personal feeling of this new hybrid is so much different from a simply aluminum cilinder.
